The Return of the Beluga Whales
How did it happen?
As the 2012 CSFFL season wore on, Adriana pension’s record slumped. By week 11, it was apparent that Adriana Pension’s season was over. With a 1-9 record, shares of Adriana Pension’s parent company, The Adriana Penison Corporation (APC, NYSE: APCC) were at an all-time low.
Breadcrumb, a former CSFFL team owner and activist investor, saw this as an opportunity to re-renter Cupcake Sundays Fantasy Football and began purchasing large quantities of APC stock.
By the end of the 2012 CSFFL playoffs, Breadcrumb had amassed enough shares to become APC’s majority shareholder. After a meeting with APC’s board of directors, Breadcrumb was able to force out then CEO, Dr. Fudge. Breadcrumb’s hostile takeover was executed with brutal efficiency as he exploited the board’s disdain for Fudge’s leadership style.
Upon Fudge’s termination, Breadcrumb announced that The Adrian Pension Company would be rebranded as Beluga Investment Corp. and Adriana Penison would be known as the Beluga Whales, the same moniker as his former CSFFL team.
League Impact:
This is a significant event as the Beluga Whales were a revered franchise before their demise in 2009, a casualty of the financial crisis. The restoration of this historic franchise has prompted several prominent CSFFL figures to speak out.
